I entered these images into a photo competition called "Communities in Transition". It explores what my community might look like in 2050, and these are some of the things I envision as a climate-resilient Sudbury.

Food Forest: Flourishing food forests cover the community providing healthy food, shade, clean air, greenery, reduced stress and anxiety, and an improved mood.

Reinvented: Businesses have reinvented products to be low impact on the environment, like this plastic, metal free rucksack made out of organic materials and waterproofed with local beeswax (by Chemistry & Craft).

Built with the Land: Homes, schools, roads, and businesses are built with the local ecosystem instead of on top of it.

The City: So much green space you can't tell the city apart from the forest.

Citizen Science: Families participate in the many free local citizen science activities, to learn, monitor and help the local ecosystem adapt to climate change impacts.

Rent and Share: Affordable camping gear rentals/sharing programs allow more people to experience the simple joy of spending time outdoors.

Winter Cycling: Intuitive, safe, convenient, and maintained active transportation infrastructure makes it faster to bike in the winter rather than drive a gas-powered car.

Zero-Waste Everything: Thriving, local, zero-waste grocery stores, coffee shops, restaurants and stores are everywhere.

Accessible: Accessible opportunities for everyone to connect with the lakes and the land.
